I am neither an animal or cat lover. I do consider them God's creatures and I have respect and compassion for them - more so from a distance. My daughter has 3 cats and a pitbull and I feed them, care for them and tolerate them.
A couple of years ago I noticed a new stray cat in the neighborhood. Unlike the others this one came and sat quietly under my car port, seemed to say hello, have a great day, good night and most of all - thanks so much for just letting me rest here.....
I didn't feed the cat or give it attention - it gave all the attention and in a most graceful and dignified manner. Not your ordinary stray cat she wore a lovely collar and medallion. After a while I got close enough to read the info on the medallion and dialed the contact number. It was disconnected.
I decided due to the cats graceful manner it must be a girl (I still don't know!) But 'she' loved the attention of viewing her medallion and sat perfectly still. I noticed the collar was imbedded in her neck and fur and carefully removed it. She was so grateful.
After some more months I began leaving 'her' water, then food. She knew when meal time was and gracefully waited. Later on I got her a pet tent for under the carport.
After more time she asked if she might sit on my lap when I sat on the front porch, if she could give me love. We did this routine daily for over a year. I named her Trixie and she responded immediately.
Then she was gone for several days. I was concerned, she'd been my friend and i realized i needed her as much if not more than she needed me.... She showed dishoveled with leaves and dirt all over her and her face was askew a bit odd, I could see her lower gums and her eyes were weird and she wouldn't eat. I so no actual injuries but she didn't look right, actually she looked very wrong. BUT, she was a stray cat.... She remained graceful in her condition and then promptly went away again as if to say 'thank you and worry about me no more..."
I knew she went to pet heaven, she looked terrible and gone for days all alone and unable to eat.
After almost a week she showed back up, still graceful and loveing and not looking well...I took her to a vet referred as a caring vet - see what was going on.
She'd been hit by a car and had a broken jaw. $800.00 worth of surgery and she'd be fine. I am a single mother living paycheck to paycheck. My heart was broken and I realized i was loved this cat, she warmed my heart and God himself sent her to me!! (Still not certain the cat's a she) Well we called everywhere asking, seeking, knocking..... Through the kind hearts at Lohman's Pet Cemetary who REALLY care about pets having the est lives possible. We found Sophie's Circle. This was reinforced by Ecocentric Salon...both sponsors and come to find out Trixie was already in the hands of a sponsoring vet Ravenwood vetinary clinic. She had the surgery, I must confirm the cats gnder as she will come home soon. Now she will have a home in a house filled with love!!
